About the authors

Carol Stone White and David Scott White live in Clinton, New York. They hike extensively in the Catskills, Adirondacks, Finger Lakes region, New England, and Colorado. They are members of the Catskill 3500 club, whose members have climbed the 35 peaks exceeding 3500 feet in the Catskill Forest Preserve. Dave is Membership Chairman of the club.

The Whites are members of the Adirondack Mountain Club ; Dave having served as chair of the Iroquois Chapter. They are members of the Adirondack Forty-Sixers, having summitted the 46 Adirondack peaks over 4000 feet, and became Winter Forty-Sixers in 1997. They are members of the Four Thousand Footer Club of the White Mountains, the New England 4000-Footers Club, and the 111ers of Northeastern USA. They participate in trail maintenance projects and enjoy leaving the forests more pristine than when they found them. They are currently revising the comprehensive Guide to Catskill Trails, published by the Adirondack Mountain Club.

Dave is President of Clinton Computer Systems, which provides software for businesses and health care providers in upstate New York. He is treasurer of the United Nations Association's Upper Mohawk Valley chapter. Carol was chairman of the Clinton Planning Board, than elected to the Clinton Board of Trustees, serving as water commissioner. She is active in many regional organizations, and is a tour guide for Oneida Community Mansion House. Find out more about Carol on her web site at carolwhite.org.
